sciences, fellow third world academy of sciences, fellow African academy of
sciences and fellow mathematical association of Nigeria.
His contributions to many
fields of mathematics are notable as his journal publications are seen in many
great libraries all over the world.
(5)Adegoke Olubummo:
Adegoke Olubummo was born on April 19, 1923 and died on 25th October
1992.
He hails from orin ekiti,
Ekiti state(south western Nigeria).
He holds a B.sc from
fourah college freetown sierra-leone (1950) and an MA in mathematics in 1952
kings college, Newcastle-upon-tyne in the University of Durham united kingdom.

Nigeria where he was promoted to the rank of a full professor in 1964.
Dr.Adegoke Olubummo with
James Ezeilo and Chike Obi was on the trio of black mathematicians who
pioneered modern mathematrics research in Nigeria. He pioneered the
establishment of the forum for functional Analysis and its Application and the
Nigerian mathematical society.
Many of his Ibadan
students went off to earn a doctorate in mathematics .
(6)professor chike obi:
little do we know about prof. chike obi, he was born in Anambra state(south
eastern Nigeria) on the 17th April 1921 and died march 13th
2008. He was also an influencial politician, the African mathematics union
suggests that he was the first sub-Saharan African to hold a doctorate in
mathematics.
His early research dealt
mainly with the question of the existence of periodic solutions of non-linear
ordinary differential equations. He successfully used the perturbation
technique and several of his publications greatly helped to stimulate research
interest in this subject throughout the world and have become classic in
literature.
He is the author of
several books and journals on mathematics.
He won the Sigvard Eklund
prize for original work in differential equations from the international centre
for theoretical physics.
He claims to have an elementary proof
to the popular fermat’s last theorem. Although these proof was refuted by the
world renown scholar in mathematic as they claim that the fermat’s last theorem
had already been solved in 1994 by Andrew Wiles and Richard Taylor.
Prof.Chike Obi |
(7)Dr.Opeyemi Enoch: Dr.Opeyemi Enoch
became the face of modern mathematicians in Nigeria for his solving of the
156years old Riemann zeta hypothesis. Although some said the solving was
inaccurate and hence he could not win the grand price of $1 million.
