The 9th Annual National Mathematics Competition For university students (NAMCUS) was recently held
at the National Mathematical Centre kwali - sheda, Abuja, it took place between the dates 
2nd-April to 7th-April 2017, the competition welcomed various universities from all
regions of  the country, the competition saw university of Uyo came first and the university of technology, Akure was second position. University of Ilorin and Bayero university, Kano were third and fourth respectively. the competition witnessed a great success this year as 

participants from all the participating schools were ready to make there schools proud.
Other universities which participated and performed well were Usmanu danfodiyo university
sokoto (UDUSOK),the university of Ibadan(UNIBADAN), Sokoto state university,
Federal university Oye-Ekiti, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua university Katsina, Ahmadu Bello university
(ABU) Zaria, Redeemer university Osun, kano state university of science and technology Wudil,
, Alqalam University Katsina, and  the University of Abuja.
Other universities too many to mention in the country participated as well.
At the end of the competition the students that emerged victorious for their respective
universities were honoured with a medal which was based on the students respective results. Students that scored 80 and above had gold medals, 50 and above had silver, while the bronze medal was below 50. 
Stephen Buoro representing Usmanu Danfodiyo University sokoto won a Silver Medal, Akinola
Abdulwaheed Fatima also won a bronze medal for usmanu danfodiyo university sokoto, while
Maniru Ibrahim and Ibrahim Hassan Abdulkareem who is the chairman caretaker committee of the
National mathematical science students Association (UDUSOK branch) both won Bronze medal for
Usmanu Danfodiyo University sokoto.
We the students of UDUSOK are proud of you, and our greatest salute goes to all our lecturers
at the mathematics department who contributed in one way or the other to ensure our candidates
success at the competition.
We thank Dr.Isah Garba for his relentless support and encouragement, he is indeed a father.
Dr. M.M Hamza, Mal.Jamilu Abubakar, Mal.Aremu O. Kazeem, Mal.Siraj and many others who have
contributed to our successes, because this is not a success for the participants alone but
rather a success for the entire department and university at large.
We the students of mathematics department UDUSOK congratulate and celebrate with other
universities that participated and made their schools proud.
We wish them all save trip back to their respective campuses.
